In addition to visiting some brand new venues in 2012, Mike and his team are honored to be returning to Dayton and Cleveland, OH, two events that Mike has not performed at for many years. Goulian stated, “We’ve have been looking forward to returning to both of these marquis events for a few years now and 2012 looks like the year where all the stars are aligned to make this happen and we couldn’t be more pleased”.

Goulian will also be returning to some of the shows where he has performed at for many years, such as Quonset, RI. In addition, Goulian will fly at the fast growing Boston Portsmouth Air Show and Westover AFB, MA as well as Brunswick, ME.

You will also find Goulian and his team at the magnificent AirVenture Convention in Oshkosh, WI and Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, FL. Both of these events bring out the pilots and aviation enthusiasts which allow Goulian and his sponsors to interact with many of their friends, fans, and customers.

All in all, 2012 looks like it will be a very busy and action packed year for Goulian Aerosports. The team hopes to see you at many of the shows this summer.

The International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) is responsible for promoting the safety, and visibility of air show events, promoters, and performers. Established in 1968, ICAS is recognized as the leading authority within the air show industry. Its members assist in providing regulatory governance to air show events in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Goulian has established himself as a leader in the air show industry over the past twenty years. His career has been highlighted by wins at the United States National Aerobatic Championship in both the Advanced and Unlimited categories. Goulian achieved further popularity as a competitor in the former Red Bull Air Race Championship. In the 90s Goulian wrote two books on Aerobatics, popular even today, and used by many aspiring air show and aerobatic pilots: Basic Aerobatics and Advanced Aerobatics. Today, his air show performance is an athletic display of airmanship that combines the precision flying of his competition experience with modern, gyroscopic, high performance aerobatics.

Goulian received the ICAS Sword of Excellence in recognition of his tireless efforts to promote a culture of safety and professionalism within the air show industry. Goulian accepted the award on behalf of his team, stating that his successes reflect the dedication of those around him. In a video released at the awards ceremony, Goulian was praised for setting a standard by which all air show participants are measured. His efforts in the air and on the ground have helped to elevate the stature of the air show business to what it is today.

The ICAS Sword of Excellence is considered the highest honor within the air show industry. Since 1981, the Sword has been presented to those who have made significant, selfless contributions to air shows. Past pilot recipients include Bob Hoover, Patty Wagstaff, Sean D. Tucker, Leo Loudenslager, and The Blue Angels.

Goulian becomes only the seventh air show professional to be awarded all three of the air show industries top honors; the ICAS Sword of Excellence, Art Scholl Memorial Showmanship Award, and the Bill Barber Award for Showmanship.

We were also awarded the ICAS Sword of Excellence which is a huge honor for me but it’s my team that deserves this prestigious award. The hard work and dedication by our team is what sets us apart.

Mike Goulian has spent 20 years performing for air show audiences around the globe. His list of achievements include winning the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Championship, competing in the popular Red Bull Air Race, and receiving both the prestigious Art Scholl Award for Showmanship in 2006, and Bill Barber Award for Showmanship in 2009.

Prior to joining MGAS, Chris Porter acted as a management assistant to several Grammy Award winning music artists, managed a successful flight school, and developed an aerobatic training program in Rhode Island. Flight has always been Porter’s first passion. “I began flying with the sole intention of pursuing a career in the air show industry. Mike and his team have presented me with the opportunity I’ve dreamt about.”

“Chris’s sincere love for air shows and strong work ethic will be a great asset to our team,” added Mike Goulian.

The addition of Chris Porter to MGAS will enhance the organization’s ability to provide the highest level of aerial entertainment in the world while increasing the global presence of the team and their respective sponsors through the development of web-based media and on-site hospitality programs. Porter will also serve as the Relocation Pilot for MGAS, delivering the EXTRA 330SC to each show location throughout the country.

Chris will join the MGAS team at the International Council of Air Shows convention in Las Vegas, NV from December 4 – 7, 2011.
