This past year, Alpina announced its partnership with Michael Goulian, one of the world’s most talented aerial demonstration pilots, to emphasize the brand’s passion for sport inspired watches in the air category.
Drawing inspiration from the Startimer Pilot Automatic collection, this limited edition timepiece maintains all the desired pilot features as well as excellence and qualitative finishing details. With a titanium-colored stainless steel 44 mm case contrasting with a matte dark blue dial, it displays the typical oversized luminous hand-applied indexes and hands with a date window at 3 o’clock. The timepiece features a black genuine leather strap as well as a case back engraved with the signature of the aviator himself with his race team name “99MG”.
The piece, upon purchase, is presented in a special edition box alongside a miniature model of Michael Goulian’s Red Bull Air Race World Championship competition airplane.
The brand’s collaboration with Michael Goulian has developed with involvement in the 2017 Redbull Air Race World Championship events around the world, as Official Team Partner and in various activations at the most distinguished air shows in the United States.
“We are pleased to create a dedicated timepiece for a special member of the Alpina family,” says Morgane Leynaud, Marketing Manager, Alpina Watches. “Michael and his talents embody the Alpinist lifestyle and values, and truly represent our brand in the category of pilot watches.”
“I’m truly touched and honored that Alpina has worked with me to create a timepiece that embodies the same virtues as our Red Bull Air Race Team #99,” says Michael Goulian. “I’m very proud to be able to wear this watch and I’m sure aviation enthusiasts of all types will love this watch as much as I do.”
Available in North America and the Caribbean, the timepiece is limited to 188 pieces and retails
for $1,150 at select authorized retailers and AlpinaWatches.com.
ALPINA, THE ORIGINAL SWISS SPORT WATCH
ALPINE SPORTS WATCH MANUFACTURING – SINCE 1883
Alpina, famous for its red triangle signature, is a fine watchmaking manufacture based in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1883, Alpina’s watchmaking history spans more than 130 years. A true pioneer of the Swiss watchmaking industry, Alpina has been the source of numerous patents and innovative calibers. Alpina invented the concept of the Swiss sport watch, as we know it today, with the birth of its legendary Alpina 4 in 1938.
Today, Alpina is one of the very few Swiss watch companies, which develops, produces and assembles its movements entirely in-house. Alpina proposes five in-house calibers: the AL-980 Tourbillon; the AL-718 World Timer; the AL-950 Automatic Regulator; the AL-710 Automatic Small Date, and, most recently, the AL-760 Flyback Chronograph, featuring the patented “Direct Flyback” technology. Faithful to its long tradition of innovation, in 2015 Alpina introduced the first connected Swiss Made Horological Smartwatch, thereby creating a new watch category in the Swiss watch industry. Alpina’s mission is to design and engineer luxury sport watches that operate with the greatest precision and reliability possible in the most demanding sporting environments, like the Alps.
