Swiss watchmaking pioneer is the new official Team Partner for Massachusetts-based pilot Michael Goulian and his team in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship

Chiba, Japan – In its latest collaboration with champion aviator Michael Goulian, Geneva-based Alpina Watches has forged a new partnership with Team Goulian in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. The relationship will premiere at the third stop of the 2017 season in Chiba, Japan, June 3-4.

The expanded partnership complements an existing ambassadorship collaboration with Goulian, who in addition to competing in the Red Bull Air Race, is a world renowned air show demonstration pilot. His trademark athletic, approach to flying has made him a global fan favorite during his landmark career.

Founded in 1883, and renowned for inventing the Swiss sport watch, Alpina is a true pioneer of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Aviation has been part of the brand’s DNA for almost a century. Alpina’s mission to design and engineer luxury sport watches that operate with the greatest precision and reliability possible in the most demanding sporting environments meshes perfectly with Team Goulian’s quest for consistent precision and performance in a high-speed, low-altitude sport where pilots navigate aerial racetracks at speeds of 370kph/230mph with forces up to 10 G.

“The philosophy of Alpina is: Be Perseverant. Think Independently. Trust Your Instincts. Don’t Forget Your Roots. These are the exact same traits that make for a winning team and great athletes,” says Goulian, whose racing highlights so far this season include winning the fastest lap award on the way to setting a track record at the season opener in Abu Dhabi. “I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Alpina in the air show world, and our whole team is excited about this deepened collaboration. It’s truly an honor.”

At Chiba, Alpina is celebrating the collaboration by hosting an event where local guests such as retailers, end-customers and press will have the opportunity to meet Goulian and his team. Alpina’s presence will continue in support of Team Goulian as the pilot flies for World Championship points at the remaining stops of the season: Budapest (HUN), Kazan (RUS), Porto (POR), Lausitz (GER), and Indianapolis (USA).

About Alpina

Alpina, famous for its red triangle signature, is a fine watchmaking manufacture based in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1883, Alpina’s watchmaking history spans more than 130 years. A true pioneer of the Swiss watchmaking industry, Alpina has been the source of numerous patents and innovative calibers. Alpina invented the concept of the Swiss sport watch, as we know it today, with the birth of its legendary Alpina 4 in 1938.

Today, Alpina is one of the very few Swiss watch companies, which develops, produces and assembles its movements entirely in-house. Alpina proposes five in-house calibers: the AL-980 Tourbillon; the AL-718 World Timer; the AL-950 Automatic Regulator; the AL-710 Automatic Small Date, and, most recently, the AL-760 Flyback Chronograph, featuring the patented “Direct Flyback” technology. Faithful to its long tradition of innovation, in 2015 Alpina introduced the first connected Swiss Made Horological Smartwatch, thereby creating a new watch category in the Swiss watch industry.

Alpina’s mission is to design and engineer luxury sport watches that operate with the greatest precision and reliability possible in the most demanding sporting environments, like the Alps.   #alpinawatches

About Red Bull Air Race

Created in 2003, the Red Bull Air Race World Championship celebrated its landmark 75th race at the 2017 season opener in Abu Dhabi. The Red Bull Air Race World Championship features the world’s best race pilots in a pure motorsport competition that combines speed, precision and skill. Using the fastest, most agile, lightweight racing planes, pilots hit speeds of 370kmh while enduring forces of up to 10G as they navigate a low-level slalom track marked by 25-meter-high, air-filled pylons. In 2014, the Challenger Cup was conceived to help the next generation of pilots develop the skills needed for potential advancement to the Master Class that vies for the World Championship. #airrace
