The fifth stop of the 2017 Aviall Flight Deck tour landed at the Westfield International Air Show in Massachusetts this past weekend. Aviation professionals from across New England were treated to a VIP experience at one of the top air shows in the country.

With an audience of over 75,000 people, the air show boasted a performer lineup that offered something for everyone. High performance aerobatic stars Mike Goulian and Matt Chapman both brought their “A” game, while Greg Koontz showed the depth of his skill, performing in his Super Decathlon and then later as a comedy act in his Piper Cub. New Jersey’s Jason Flood showed how nimble a Pitts S1S can be, while Canadian Carol Pilon walked the wings on her vintage Stearman biplane. The air show paid its respects to the servicemen of yesterday, with tributes flown by an F4U Corsair, AD-1 Skyraider, B-25 Mitchell, C-47 Dakota, T-33 flown by Greg Colyer, and Scott Yoak in his P-51 Mustang “Quicksilver.” The United States Air Force Thunderbirds brought the audience to its feet with their legendary display of power and precision that has made them a household name across the nation.

For Mike Goulian, host of the Aviall Flight Deck as well as a performer at the air show, Westfield was a rare opportunity to fly for the home crowd of his native state of Massachusetts. “We don’t see an air show every year in Massachusetts so when we do get the chance to perform here, especially at a show as large as what they’ve organized here at Westfield, we jump at the chance and couldn’t be more excited.”
