This weekend at the Red Bull Air Race in Ascot, England turned out well – with a trip to the Final 4 for the 1st time this season and a 4th place in the standings, The Goulian team left feeling like we gave it our all. It was a privilege to return to the 2016 National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan, over the 4th of July weekend. The Cherry Festival hosts a weekend air show (Friday – Monday) to kick off the week-long event. The team was able to capture its first 360 degree video to showcase Michael’s performance over Lake Michigan – check out the short video clip on this post.

The 2016 Red Bull Air Race in Japan is over for Team 99. Saturday’s Qualifying Races were cancelled due to extreme high winds so the head-to-head heats for Sunday were based upon World Championship Standings (instead of Qualifying runs). This placed Goulian’s head-to-head race against Britain’s Nigel Lamb. An over-G penalty on Sunday cost Team 99 the chance to advance into the Round of 8.
Given their recent efforts, American pilots Kirby Chambliss and Michael Goulian both have strong potential for the race podium at the third stop of the 2016 Red Bull Air Race World Championship in Chiba, Japan this weekend. Success could put either pilot closer to – or among – the top three in the overall standings.
