This weekend at the Red Bull Air Race in Ascot, England turned out well – with a trip to the Final 4 for the 1st time this season and a 4th place in the standings, The Goulian team left feeling like we gave it our all. It was a privilege to return to the 2016 National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan, over the 4th of July weekend. The Cherry Festival hosts a weekend air show (Friday – Monday) to kick off the week-long event. The team was able to capture its first 360 degree video to showcase Michael’s performance over Lake Michigan – check out the short video clip on this post.

The 2016 Red Bull Air Race in Japan is over for Team 99. Saturday’s Qualifying Races were cancelled due to extreme high winds so the head-to-head heats for Sunday were based upon World Championship Standings (instead of Qualifying runs). This placed Goulian’s head-to-head race against Britain’s Nigel Lamb. An over-G penalty on Sunday cost Team 99 the chance to advance into the Round of 8.
Given their recent efforts, American pilots Kirby Chambliss and Michael Goulian both have strong potential for the race podium at the third stop of the 2016 Red Bull Air Race World Championship in Chiba, Japan this weekend. Success could put either pilot closer to – or among – the top three in the overall standings.

What an emotional week for Team #99 in Spielberg, Austria. During race week, the team installed a new intake on the race plane to shave off some time and pump up the speed; and made sure the race plane was race-ready after the final assembly. It’s air show time! Our first 2016 air show this weekend in Tampa, Florida will be a kickoff to the season like no other. The Tampa Bay Air Fest, hosted by MacDill Air Force Base this weekend will not only have an awesome line up of performers, including our own Mike Goulian, but will also have the most fan interactive air show ever – utilizing the production team from Reality Check Systems.

Goulian’s Team #99 is in Abu Dhabi assembling the race plane ahead of the Red Bull Air Race this weekend. We spent the winter rebuilding and redesigning every inch of it. Nothing was left untouched. This week, Team #99 reached a huge milestone as we completed an incredibly successful modification and test program on our Red Bull Air Race Edge 540. After an amazing around the clock effort by my Teammates & Bully Aero, we have built what we feel is a monster race plane.

The event is an afternoon saluting pilot chefs with an opportunity to listen to Mike Goulian’s personal experiences, stories, and moments in aviation where he’s identified his personal limits.
Team Goulian’s official 2016 calendar is shaping up. We’re only two months away from the first of eight Red Bull Air Race World Championship events, kicking off once again in Abu Dhabi. On our schedule, you’ll find many of our favorite events such as Sun’ n Fun and Oshkosh, but the air show team is excited to be attending some new events in 2016.
It was an emotional weekend here at the Red Bull Air Race in Las Vegas. The last race of the year had it’s ups and downs. We had a solid Qualifying run on Saturday, setting us up to fly against Hannes Arch on Sunday. On Sunday we flew well in the Round of 14 allowing us to advance to the Round of 8.
As is the norm, Team #99 arrived early for the @redbullairrace stop in Las Vegas. The team had to complete an engine change in Fort Worth the Friday night prior to Qualifying day just three weeks ago – so early this week, team technician, Dax Wanless, and Team Coordinator, Pablo Branco spent time setting up the engine for maximum horsepower while trying to keep the engine temps under control.
